Alternative SAIL-Trp for robust aromatic signal assignment and determination of the ?2 conformation by intra-residue NOEs
Alternative SAIL-Trp for robust aromatic signal assignment and determination of the ?2 conformation by intra-residue NOEs Abstract Tryptophan (Trp) residues are frequently found in the hydrophobic cores of proteins, and therefore, their side-chain conformations, especially the precise locations of the bulky indole rings, are critical for determining structures by NMR. However, when analyzing -proteins, the observation and assignment of the ring signals are often hampered by excessive overlaps and tight spin couplings. These difficulties have been greatly alleviated by using...

Intra- and intermolecular translocation of the bi-domain transcription factor Oct1 characterized by liquid crystal and paramagnetic NMR [Biophysics and Computational Biology]
Intra- and intermolecular translocation of the bi-domain transcription factor Oct1 characterized by liquid crystal and paramagnetic NMR Takayama, Y., Clore, G. M.... Date: 2011-05-31 The intra- and intermolecular translocation processes whereby the bi-domain transcription factor Oct1 searches for its specific DNA target site have been investigated by residual dipolar coupling (RDC) and paramagnetic relaxation enhancement (PRE) measurements. The RDC data show that the orientation of the POUS and POUHD domains of Oct1 relative to the long axis of the DNA is the same for specific and...

[Question from NMRWiki Q&A forum] Generate inter-proton distance restraints from an X-ray structure
Generate inter-proton distance restraints from an X-ray structure Hello, Does anyone know of any program that can generate inter-proton distance restraints from an X-ray structure?I was able to use Molmol to generate dihedral angles. MolMol can also generate inter-atom distances, however, I could not figure out how to just generate 1H-1H distances. I have a total of 50,000 inter-atom distance (H-H, C-O, C-N...all types). Any help is highly appreciated. Winston

J Biochem. 1996 Jul;120(1):126-32 Authors: Yamamoto Y NMR signals arising from the HisB5 N delta H and HisEF5 N epsilon H protons in sperm whale skeletal and horse heart myoglobins have been located for the first time in the downfield shifted portion of the spectra. The shifts and hydrogen exchange rates indicate that these His imidazole ring NH protons are involved in the inter-segmental hydrogen bonds...
