Default Relaxation-Assisted Magnetization Transfer Phenomena for a Sensitivity-Enhanced 2D NMR

Relaxation-Assisted Magnetization Transfer Phenomena for a Sensitivity-Enhanced 2D NMR

2D NOESY and TOCSY play central roles in contemporary NMR. We have recently discussed how solvent-driven exchanges can significantly enhance the sensitivity of such methods when attempting correlations between labile and nonlabile protons. This study explores two scenarios where similar sensitivity enhancements can be achieved in the absence of solvent exchange: the first one involves biomolecular paramagnetic systems, while the other involves small organic molecules in natural abundance. It is...

[NMR paper] Non-invasive monitoring of in vitro gastric milk protein digestion kinetics by (1)H NMR magnetization transfer
Non-invasive monitoring of in vitro gastric milk protein digestion kinetics by (1)H NMR magnetization transfer Processing of milk involves heating, which can modify the structure and digestibility of its proteins. In vitro models are useful for studying protein digestion. However, validating these models with in vivo data is challenging. Here, we non-invasively monitor in vitro gastric milk protein digestion by protein-water chemical exchange detected by ąH nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) magnetization transfer (MT). We obtained either a fitted composite exchange rate (CER) with a...

Dry-cured ham tissue characterization by fast field cycling NMR relaxometry and quantitative magnetization transfer. Dry-cured ham tissue characterization by fast field cycling NMR relaxometry and quantitative magnetization transfer. Magn Reson Chem. 2016 May 31; Authors: Bajd F, Gradišek A, Apih T, Serša I Abstract Fast field cycling (FFC) and quantitative magnetization transfer (qMT) NMR methods are two powerful tools in NMR analysis of biological tissues. The qMT method is well established in biomedical NMR applications,...

Recovery of bulk proton magnetization and sensitivity enhancement in ultrafast magic-angle spinning solid-state NMR
From The DNP-NMR Blog: Recovery of bulk proton magnetization and sensitivity enhancement in ultrafast magic-angle spinning solid-state NMR A large portion of the magnetization in a CP experiment remains unused after an experiment and different strategies exist to make better use of the proton magnetization. Here the authors show their results of testing 7 different cp schemes. Although not directly related to DNP these techniques are still very valuable to increase the sensitivity of an NMR experiment especially in combination with DNP.

Perspectives for sensitivity enhancement in proton-detected solid-state NMR of highly deuterated proteins by preserving water magnetization
Perspectives for sensitivity enhancement in proton-detected solid-state NMR of highly deuterated proteins by preserving water magnetization Abstract In this work, we show how the water flip-back approach that is widely employed in solution-state NMR can be adapted to proton-detected MAS solid-state NMR of highly deuterated proteins. The scheme allows to enhance the sensitivity of the experiment by decreasing the recovery time of the proton longitudinal magnetization. The method relies on polarization transfer from non-saturated water to the protein...
