junior research associate
We are seeking for potential candidates to apply for a position as a
CNRS junior research associate in conjunction with our group.
The focus of the research will be on developing advanced NMR methods
for the analysis of mixtures of small molecules, with particular
attention to perspective applications to natural products. Our ongoing
activity aims at resolving the complex NMR spectra of multicomponent
mixtures by relying on pseudochromatographic experiments (Angew. Chem.
2006, 45 , 5950-5953), multiple-quantum analysis (Anal. Chem. 2010,
82, 3266-3269 ) and adapted signal processing.
The candidate will be located at the Institut de Chimie des Substances
Naturelles (Gif-sur-Yvette), in the Paris area, which hosts several
high-field spectrometers, including a 950 MHz.
The ideal candidate should have a disposition towards teamwork, an
inquisitive mind and a solid background on the development and application
of modern NMR methodology, with a Ph. D. degree and at least one year
of post-doctoral work in the area.
As the CNRS national competition is highly selective, a strong
publication record is necessary.

PhD and PostDoc positions SSNMR
PhD and PostDoc positions in solid-state NMR
Development and applications of high-resolution solid-state NMR methods to study molecular systems of pharmaceutical, energy and environmental interest
Job summary:
Two research grants (1 PhD and 1 PostDoc) are available for highly motivated candidates with an outstanding academic record in the Science or Engineering disciplines, at the Group for Synthesis, Structure and Technological Application of Materials – SYSTAM – at the University of Oviedo (Spain) and the Center for Research in Ceramics and Composite Materials – CICECO – at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) within the framework of project MAT2010-15094. This project aims at employing state-of-the art solid-state NMR (SSNMR) methodology and computational methods to understand the underlying intermolecular interactions, which play a crucial role in the molecular arrangement of pharmaceutical systems and elucidate the chemical structure of inorganic-organic hybrid materials of environmental and catalytic interest. The successful candidates will have access to fully equipped SSNMR spectrometers ranging from 400 to 800 MHz located at both universities and at the installations of the Portuguese NMR network. The candidates will also have access to several diffraction equipments including sophisticated high-resolution single-crystal/powder X-ray and electron diffraction equipments.
See below the job description and application details for each position (Note: the PostDoc position description is just after the PhD position details written below)

Senior Tenure-Track
Senior Tenure-Track or Tenure-Eligible Investigator Position in Structural Biology & Biophysics
The Structural Biophysics Laboratory (SBL), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking an outstanding tenure-track or tenure-eligible principal investigator to carry out original, independent, and innovative research in an area of Structural Biology or Biophysics integrated with molecular biology. This intramural position is similar to that of an associate (or higher) professor in academia.
Areas of emphasis include structural biology of biomacromolecular systems and/or characterization of dynamic assembly/function of macromolecular complexes that impact the biological processes relevant to cancer and/or AIDS. The incumbent will establish/continue a highly competitive and collaborative program, with an emphasis or utilization of NMR spectroscopy, including solid-state NMR. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated expertise and a record of achievement.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, description of research plans (~ 5 pages), and have 3 letters of recommendation set to: Ms. Deanna Doughtery, Administrative Officer, NCI-Frederick, PO Box B, Bldg. 578, Frederick, Maryland, 21702-1201, Tel. 301-846-5199, FAX 301-846-6053, E-mail: SBLsearch@mail.nih.gov. PhD studentship
A 4 year PhD studentship contract is available in my group starting september 2012 to work on the structural and functional aspects of the recognition of chromatin structure by the ING4 tumor suppressor.
We seek a motivated student with a strong interest in structural biology, and with a Master degree (to be completed before september 2012).
The PhD researcher will be involved in sample preparation and structural analysis by NMR and other techniques. The laboratory hosts two Bruker spectrometers (800 and 600 MHz) with a full complement of probes for biomolecular studies). Electron microscopy and crystallography platforms are also available at CIC bioGUNE. Functional assays will be carried out in collaboration with an external group.
CIC bioGUNE (http://www.cicbiogune.es) is a research institute in biosciences created and supported by the Basque Government in 2005 to foster bioresearch and biotech industry in the Basque Country. It is located near Bilbao, an area with a high standard of living, a mild climate and a vibrant cultural environment.
Information about the current activity and publications of the lab can be found in the following link

Post-Doc in Montpellier
The NMR group at the Centre de Biochimie Structurale (CBS) in Montpellier (France) is looking for a highly motivated researcher to join the team as a post-doc to work for two years on a project funded by the Chaires d’Excellence program of the French Research Funding Agency (ANR). The project, leaded by Pau Bernadó, aims the structural and dynamic characterization of a family of intrinsically disordered proteins linked to neurodegenerative diseases, and to reveal the molecular basis of the aggregation process causing these pathologies. This objective will be achieved by the integration of NMR, SAXS and single-molecule FRET data into novel computational approaches.
The successful candidate should have a PhD in chemistry, biology or physics and experience in solution state biomolecular NMR spectroscopy. Previous experience with protein expression and purification will be considered favourably. Knowledge in other biophysical techniques and computational methods will be favourably evaluated.
The laboratory hosts high-field state-of-the-art NMR spectrometers for biomolecular applications: A 700 MHz and a 500 MHz both equipped with cryoprobes and a 600 MHz. In addition to NMR, the CBS has an outstanding infrastructure covering all techniques for structural biology and biophysics including X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, advanced fluorescent and super-resolution microscopes, single-molecule manipulation, molecular and cell biology, and high-performance computation.
Montpellier is a major biology area with a focus on basic research, biomedicine, plant biology and environmental science. Its science drive, the beauty of the region and its high quality of life, and the short... [Read More]
