Successful candidates should have a strong biochemical background in protein structure including: NMR, X-ray crystallography, and/or Mass Spectrometry. Projects will focus on elucidating molecular interactions that dysregulate NADPH oxidases in the context of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (J Clin Invest, 2007 117:2913-2919; J Clin Invest, 2008 118:659-670) and the development of therapies. Postdoctoral scholars will benefit from a large number of interactive faculty and state-of-the-art research core laboratories (http://www.healthcare.uiowa.edu/corefacilities/) that create an extremely supportive environment for interdisciplinary molecular medicine research. Career opportunities for strong candidates to move projects into their own laboratory are expected.
