Abstract
At the surface of A?(1-40) amyloid fibrils that have a threefold molecular symmetry (green in the left picture) a site of interaction of the glycosaminoglycan analogue heparin (blue) was identified. The binding site consists of residues at the N terminus and the turn regions defining the apices of the triangular geometry. Heparin has a lower affinity for A?(1-40) fibrils having twofold molecular symmetry, thus revealing a remarkable morphological selectivity.

Probing site-specific (13)C/ (15)N-isotope enrichment of spider silk with liquid-state NMR spectroscopy. Anal Bioanal Chem. 2013 Feb 26; Authors: Shi X, Yarger JL, Holland GP Abstract Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) has been extensively used to elucidate spider silk protein structure and dynamics. In many of these studies, site-specific isotope enrichment is critical for designing particular NMR methods...

From Mendeley Biomolecular NMR group: Asymmetry of 13C labeled 3-pyruvate affords improved site specific labeling of RNA for NMR spectroscopy. Journal of biomolecular NMR (2012). Volume: 52, Issue: 1. Pages: 65-77. Chandar S Thakur, T Kwaku Dayie et al. Selective isotopic labeling provides an unparalleled window within which to study the structure and dynamics of RNAs by high resolution NMR spectroscopy. Unlike commonly used carbon sources, the asymmetry of (13)C-labeled pyruvate provides selective labeling in both the ribose and base moieties of nucleotides using Escherichia coli...
