Default Real-Time NMR Recording of Fermentation and Lipid Metabolism Processes in Live Microalgae Cells

Real-Time NMR Recording of Fermentation and Lipid Metabolism Processes in Live Microalgae Cells

Non-invasive and real-time recording of processes in living cells has been limited to detection of small cellular components such as soluble proteins and metabolites. Here we report a multiphase NMR approach using Magic-Angle Spinning NMR to synchronously follow microbial processes of fermentation, lipid metabolism and structural dynamic changes in live microalgae cells. Chlamydomonas reinhardtii green algae were highly concentrated, introducing dark fermentation and anoxia conditions....

Related Articles Active metabolism unmasks functional protein-protein interactions in real time in-cell NMR. Commun Biol. 2020 May 21;3(1):249 Authors: Breindel L, Burz DS, Shekhtman A Abstract Protein-protein interactions, PPIs, underlie most cellular processes, but many PPIs depend on a particular metabolic state that can only be observed in live, actively metabolizing cells. Real time in-cell NMR spectroscopy, RT-NMR, utilizes a...

Progression of NMR studies of membrane-active peptides from lipid bilayers to live cells
Progression of NMR studies of membrane-active peptides from lipid bilayers to live cells Publication date: Available online 27 December 2014 Source:Journal of Magnetic Resonance
Author(s): M.-A. Sani , F. Separovic
Understanding the structure of membrane-active peptides faces many challenges associated with the development of appropriate model membrane systems as the peptide structure depends strongly on the lipid environment. This perspective provides a brief overview of the approach taken to study antimicrobial and amyloid peptides in phospholipid...
