Default TWO FACULTY POSITIONS in MOLECULAR STRUCTURE & FUNCTION THE HOSPITAL FOR SICK CHILDREN, TORONTO, ON, CANADA

TWO FACULTY POSITIONS in MOLECULAR STRUCTURE & FUNCTION
THE HOSPITAL FOR SICK CHILDREN, TORONTO, ON, CANADA

To coincide with the opening of The Hospital for Sick Children’s (SickKids) new
Centre for Research and Learning in August 2013, the Program in Molecular
Structure & Function (MSF) is seeking two exceptional individuals who are
interested in exploiting the unique research environment provided by Canada’s
largest paediatric hospital-based research institute (Sickkids - hospital
Research/AbouttheInstitute/index.html). Individuals, at all stages of their career,
that use biophysical, biochemical, computational and/or chemical biology tools to
study biological macromolecules or biochemical processes at the molecular level,
bridging in vitro to cellular and/or in vivo studies are encouraged to apply (http://
Job openings)

Preference will be given to candidates that enhance and complement the existing
research of Program members (http://www.sickkids.ca/Research/Molecular-
Structure-and-Function and http://www.sickkids.ca/Research/Molecular-Structure-
and-Function/Research-themes/index.html) and can establish links to other ongoing
research endeavors within the Hospital (Centres).

The successful candidates for this independent research position must have an MD
or PhD degree or equivalent, have completed significant postdoctoral training, and
have an outstanding record of research productivity. The successful candidates will be
expected to establish and maintain an externally funded research program, and to hold
an academic appointment at the University of Toronto.

Interested applicants should e-mail their application (curriculum vitae, description of
past and proposed research, and three representative publications) in PDF format to
Nira Jayanetti, Program Coordinator, E-mail: nira.jayanetti@sickkids.ca. Candidates
should also arrange to have three confidential letters of recommendation either emailed
or sent to: Molecular Structure & Function Search 2012, c/o Nira Jayanetti, Hospital for
Sick Children, 555 University Avenue, Toronto, ON, Canada, M5G 1X8.

Complete applications that are received on or before 5pm EST on Nov 30 th, 2012 will be
considered.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however in accordance with
immigration requirements, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given
priority. The Hospital for Sick Children hires on the basis of merit and is committed to
equity in employment.

Methyl groups as probes of supra-molecular structure, dynamics and function
Methyl groups as probes of supra-molecular structure, dynamics and function Abstract The development of new protein labeling strategies, along with optimized experiments that exploit the label, have significantly impacted on the types of biochemical problems that can now be addressed by solution NMR spectroscopy. Here we describe how methyl labeling of key residues in a highly deuterated protein background has facilitated studies of the structure, dynamics and interactions of supra-molecular particles. The methyl-labeling approach is briefly reviewed, followed by a summary of...
