Default NMR reveals entropy redistribution: Bacterial proteins

NMR reveals entropy redistribution: Bacterial proteins

Research carried out at the of the METACyt Biomolecular NMR Laboratory at IU Bloomington at Indiana University has revealed evidence that tiny changes in atomic movements in bacterial proteins can play a big role in how these microorganisms function and evolve.

[NMR paper] Conformational Entropy from NMR Relaxation in Proteins: the SRLS Perspective.
Conformational Entropy from NMR Relaxation in Proteins: the SRLS Perspective. Related Articles Conformational Entropy from NMR Relaxation in Proteins: the SRLS Perspective. J Phys Chem B. 2017 Jan 06;: Authors: Tchaicheeyan O, Meirovitch E Abstract Conformational entropy changes associated with bond-vector motions in proteins contribute to the free energy of ligand binding. To derive such contributions we apply the slowly relaxing local structure (SRLS) approach to NMR relaxation from (15)N-H bonds or C-CDH2 moieties of several...

Evaluation of the reliability of the maximum entropy method for reconstructing 3D and 4D NOESY-type NMR spectra of proteins. Evaluation of the reliability of the maximum entropy method for reconstructing 3D and 4D NOESY-type NMR spectra of proteins. Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2014 Dec 26; Authors: Shigemitsu Y, Ikeya T, Yamamoto A, Tsuchie Y, Mishima M, Smith BO, Güntert P, Ito Y Abstract Despite their advantages in analysis, 4D NMR experiments are still infrequently used as a routine tool in protein NMR projects due to the...

NMR-monitored titration of acid-stress bacterial chaperone HdeA reveals that Asp and Glu charge neutralization produces a loosened dimer structure in preparation for protein unfolding and chaperone activation
NMR-monitored titration of acid-stress bacterial chaperone HdeA reveals that Asp and Glu charge neutralization produces a loosened dimer structure in preparation for protein unfolding and chaperone activation Abstract HdeA is a periplasmic chaperone found in several gram-negative pathogenic bacteria that are linked to millions of cases of dysentery per year worldwide. After the protein becomes activated at low pH, it can bind to other periplasmic proteins, protecting them from aggregation when the bacteria travel through the stomach on their way to colonize the intestines. It has been...
